I am not a “girly-girl” and use minimal beauty/hair products and makeup. I never did figure out how to do up-do’s and all those different contours of makeup is a “no” for me. This has always been the case, but especially now, as I call this my “hippy stage” with a less-is-more approach. Natural curls, soft make-up is the effort I put in. But, I learned something about myself today as I tried to pack this TSA approved quart-size liquids bag – maybe I am high-maintenance after all! This size bag is just really restrictive! I don’t know how the girls with all the creams and contours and hair salves get their necessities to their vacation!

Honestly, this wasn’t going to be a post, until it took me hours to figure out just what the TSA was asking for, and after much swearing, I figured out just what was a cream versus a liquid? I mean, these are concepts I thought I had down-pat, but turns out, nope! Like, why the hell is a lipstick a solid, but a pot of Carmex is a liquid? And then after navigating these definitions, finding what bottles fit in said bag. It really ate up much of this day, hence this post. If I got this right (we will see), hopefully it helps someone else.

These are my “LIQUIDS” that must be put in a quart-sized ziploc or a bag of equal size. My initial thought was to just put them into the ziploc so there was no hassle, but my bag kept ripping because I was filling it up. And in all honestly, Bryan’s bag will hold 2 of my items as well. I gave up after the third bag ripped.

It is chocked full. And these are small, and look like not much when out

Make-up, hair products and necessary toiletries such as toothpaste and deodorant.

TSA says these have to be in LIQUIDS bag: Shampoo, Conditioner, Hair Leave-In Conditioner, Hair De-Frizz Spray, Body wash, Hair oil, Deodorant, toothpaste and Aquaphor.

This make-up/beauty products need to be in the LIQUIDS quart-size bag: Nail polish, Face Moisturizer Spray, Face Moisture-Surge, Eye Cream, Lip Cream, Carmex Lip balm, Makeup Remover Cleanser, Foundation, Liquid Eyeliner and Mascara.

The Make-up that does not need to be in the LIQUIDS bag are powdered or sticks.

And hair accessories do not have to be in the LIQUIDS bag. So I have them separate, and put the “dry-make-up” in with them. Also did a clear bag just in case I get a grumpy TSA agent.

So, after much effort, here are my two bags! Yay. Le sigh. But frankly, this is still more than I thought I would end up with. I may wean this down some before we actually go, but then I would have to think about it all again, and no one wants that.
